End of Semester

Hello there!
It's been a long time since I last updated this journal. Last time I talked about me going to college and now I have already finished my third semester!

I'm currently studying Visual Arts at a school in Mexico City called "La Esmeralda", and every end of semester we hold an exposition with all of our works throughout the semester.
This semester I did some projects I'm actually proud of and some of those works are already here, so I wanted to share with you the pieces I showed during our expositions.

Bullet; Blue Bidimension Class

In bidimension class we worked on a personal project and two series. My personal project was a series of minicomics of "Mexico and the Divine" two of which are already here on deviantART. I managed to make three of them. Then a series of paintings, starting with a self portrait (on top), after that we had to make an abstract version of it and finally a free one. The other series of ink drawings are already here on deviantART as well, my moon series, Moon's Genesis, Moon's Coronation & Moon's Sacrifice. I presented the negative versions at the bottom.
I'll upload the missing pieces here during the following weeks.

Bullet; Blue Drawing Class

My project for Drawing class was a series of drawings to bring prehispanic codices from two dimensions into three. First a series of deconstructions of codex anatomy, respecting the proportions of the original depictions. Then a series of characters following the codex canon properties but in two perspectives, side and front. Finally, along multimedia class I 3D printed a model of Donaji that was shown along the "Tlahuetsiyok Codex".

Bullet; Blue Tridimension Class

In tridimension class we didn't really work on any projects during the semester. We had a theorical class kind of like a seminar in which we talked about certain concepts. In the end we did a collective installation. However, some people like me worked in specific objects for the installation; in my case these terracotta masks which I presented on these wooden cubes.
I did them without thinking as a mechanical operation (it has to do with the concept of our installation).

Bullet; Blue Multimedia Class

Multimedia class' project was the same as drawing class, except that this one's only focus was on the 3D printing. I designed the model in the drawing project, created it on Maya and then printed it in my school's printer. The result was this tiny plastic Donaji you see here.
This one was just a test and has a few errors in it, but I didn't get to repair the model on time to print the final version in a bigger size, so that'll have to wait until I start the next semester.

That's all I presented during the exposition of the end of semester. Hope you like it, as this is the result of half a year of hard work. I'm glad that this time around I was able to work on projects I can consider as mine, contrary to the imposed excercises of the previous year.

Donaji & the Magical Poncho

Well, most of you must have seen it already, but I recently released a small teaser for my upcoming animation: Donaji & The Magical Poncho (Donají y el Poncho Mágico de Chicahualizteotl)
It's been an entire year since I started this huge project and because of various reasons it's been on hold for a long time. But now I'm really close to finish it and I can be sure it'll be released at some point of early 2017.
Stay tuned for more updates, I'll probably set a final release date once I complete it 100%.

Here's the teaser:

Those are all the updates I have for now. I'll let you know once there's something new worth announcing.
If anything feel completely free to ask anything you want. I love talking about my work so I will gladly answer! :>

Take care!
End of update
