Donaji's Birthday - Spring arrives

March 22th is Donaji's Birthday! ♈
Here it is Donaji's "birthday present" from me. Also, the nasty winter is over and Spring will bring it's warmth any time now! That makes me twice as happy!

THIS TOOK A LONG TIME TO DO OMG!!!!
It has been years since a digital painting took me so much time to do. Almost two whole days. However, I'm proud of it.

I can really feel quite an improvement since Donaji's previous birthday; this time I did a background for example.
This is the first drawing in a long time as well in which I pay so much attention to color, lighting and composition.

The flowers are Cacaloxochitl which means "Crow flower" in nahuatl, the scientific name is Plumeria Rubra  and it is known world wide, but it came from America and is native to Mexico. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plumeria
Originally I planned to add "Jacarandas" in the drawing, and make the petals fall, kinda like a sakura tree, since there are jacarandas all over Mexico City blooming around this time of the year. Sadly, I did some research and found out that they're not native to Mexico, so Donaji wouldn't have been able to be under one.
Cacaloxochitl, also known as "Flor de Mayo" (May Flower), blooms, as it name says, in May, but I couldn't think of any other pretty spring mexican flowers, and it is one of my two favourite ones, so I still sticked to the idea.

Now I'll get back to work in Donaji & Chicahualizteotl's Magic Poncho's animation. Honestly, this was the date I had planned to release the animation on, but because of school and homework that was an impossible goal. BUT the animation itself is almost done (79%) and I can pass onto painting backgrounds and do the final composition with all visual effects, and since I have two weeks of vacations I'm going to work on it non-stop! PLEASE WAIT A LITTLE BIT LONGER FOR IT!
